10 Healthy Hair Tips!!

Product Haul

I went to the beauty supply store after work today to purchase some of the essential products that I've been advised needed when you are attempting to style your own hair. I said to myself that I would go to see my stylist for awhile before styling my own hair, but honestly with watching all the wonderfully educational videos on youtube.com which demonstrates healthy hair care, I think I could do it myself this weekend ( cross your fingers)!!!! LOL I've honestly done very extensive research and I'm proceeding with extreme caution.
So, the fabulous products that I brought are:
  • Nexus VitaTress conditioning volumizer (leave-in)
  • Designer Touch wrap -n- style lotion
  • New Era instant hair repair (preventative tactic)
  • Motions protein reconstuctor (monthly)
  • Motions conditioning syling lotion (alcohol free!!!)

Lastly I got a extra wide tooth comb, a new wrap brush and an extra small barrel brush to blow out my roots after a roller set! Whew! I want to treat myself to a Mason Pearson comb and brush set but I'll buy it as a reward once my hair grows one full inch weave-free!!!
I intend on washing my hair on Friday night after a long work out, which is extremely over due! I'll make sure to post pictures to view the results. NB xox

Real Talk

I'm taking notes, not so much on the products but her technique. I'm gonna put it into practice as I start doing my own hair! It's all about HAIR HEALTH!!! NB xox

My hair inspiration!!!!

I haven't tried this yet. Right now I'm gonna stick by my stylist for right now. I'm taking baby steps until I'm ready to do my own hair. She has her regime down packed. Her hair is sooo healthy and pretty!!!!! Pay close attention to the end result, that long cascading hair...uh huh that's all me in a minute!!! I could watch this over and over ( in fact I have ) LOL NB xox

ReeeeeWind!

So before I forget, I really wanted to tell you all about the drama I put my self through at the hair salon. So I had already felt that I wanted to take out my weave last month. When I went to see my stylist she insisted to keep it for another month because it was still pretty tight thus taking it out I would have essentially been wasting money. It's pretty expensive to put it in so you wanna get the most out of your weave. I was a little disappointed but then I realized that I can do more intense of a workout and swim without worrying about damaging my real hair or restyling it. So, fast forward to the big day. I had worked out the weekend before and had been really scratching as your growing hair under your weave REALLY itches. I thought that my scalp had settled by now...WRONG!!! When it came time to get my relaxer in my scalp was SOOOO sensitive and it kinda burned. Then when it was time to put in my color rinse WWWHHHOOAAA HOTTT! I was doing the shottybounce in the shampoo chair! LOL Not fun. Was it worth it? Well, yes because with going all natural for a year, I definitely needed a relaxer beacuse of the styles I knew I wanted to where and the color I got came out really pretty. I had it flat ironed straight, it looked soo amazing. It blowed in the wind as I walked to my car... it felt great! Going forward I'm gonna blog about the new products that I'm using and how they're working for my hair. I also hope to post lots of pictures and watch what being knowledgeable on hair health can do for me! Until next time... NB xox

Post Weave!

I've been wearing a weave for the last year and three months. On March 5, 2009... I had it taken out!!! WOW! What a difference, I hardly recognized myself! I love it! Before my first weave, I had already been through constantly over processing my hair. I thought I knew everything about styling which I didn't, but what I knew even less about was how to really take care of my hair. For instance, I thought that flat ironing daily was ok as long as my hair look fresh and coiffed. WRONG!!! BIG NO NO!!! Even when my stylist told me I needed to get my hair cut very short to get it healthy, I still hadn't learned. I went though several years of not listening, I just didn't get it. Fortunately, after awhile I started taking better care of my hair so it was actually in pretty good condition when my first weave was put in (12/23/2007). It was probably around a good 6 to 7 inches overall. Now it has grown to be roughly about 12 to 13 inches long!!!!!! I'm so proud of it and myself! YAY me! I've really invested and practiced discipline. I plan to continue to do so!!! I was thinking of getting to know my real hair again for for a couple months. Just like with skin care and make up, you have to observe your personal situation and then practice with products and different techniques in moderation. It takes applying a lot of common sense and YOU WILL see a difference as you gain more experience and grow more comfortable. Till next time NB xox
